The architectural illustration of Liming Rao, combining the poetic expression of watercolour with the realism of digital collage, Rao creates sublime expressions of building, landscape, light, mood and season. Rao has collaborated with some of Canada’s top architecture firms. He begins by gaining an understanding of a project’s narrative and spirit and applying his expertise in architectural and interior design. His perspectives are crafted with the intention of producing beautiful works of art and serving a wide range of purposes including promotion, publication and exhibition. Architects, interior designers, planners, developers and editors revere Rao’s illustrations. They have been published locally and abroad and they have been granted a prestigious Award of Excellence from the American Society of Architectural Illustrators International Competition (2007, 2008) and a Honourable Mention from the Ontario Association of Architects Awards (2005).
