After working seven years with an internationally renowned architectural firm, Hariri Pontarini Architects, Liming Rao has found Studio Liming Rao in 2006, a multi-disciplinary design office based in Toronto. The studio focuses on architecture and its intersection with art, technology and the environment. The studio’s work ranges in various media, scale and discipline, utilizing art illustration, product design, furniture design and diverse range of architectural projects to explore the new expressions, spatial experiences and sustainable solutions, in the context of contemporary cultural and social phenomenon.

His works has been received numerous recognition in design competitions, exhibitions and publications: Ontario Association of Architects Awards, Best of Canada Design Competition, National Post Design Exchange Award, Virtu 12 National Furniture Competition, YUPO Walley Award, and exhibited internationally, including the Salone Satellite at the Milan International Furniture Fair, Design Exchange in Toronto, various galleries cross the Canada. As an up coming designer, he also has been chosen as one of the young designers represented Canada for Wallpaper Gobal/Edit/06 exhibition in Milan. Liming is a member of American Society of Architectural Illustrators. His recent work has been received an Award of Excellence for the 22nd and the Juror Award for the 23th annual Architecture in Perspective, the highest honors the architectural illustration profession can bestow in the world.

Liming was born in Shanghai, China. Educated in Canada, he earned a diploma of interior design from Dawson College, Montreal and bachelors in architecture from the Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design at the University of Toronto.
